Water, indispensable for life:
Water has many possible uses, hygiene, food or water consumption; we therefore talk of potable water, table water, mineral water, tap water and gaseous water. This is the best drink of all for animals and man, whose body consists of 70% water. You cannot live without water, it is very important to be properly hydrated so as to allow your body to function properly. It is therefore recommended that water should be drunk regularly (Water and not sugary liquids) because you cannot live and carry out normal activities for more than 3 days without water.
In short, water is indispensable for the existence of all living beings, animal or vegetable.
Who does water belong to?
Water is very precious, it is a common asset of all the inhabitants of the earth, because of its unequal distribution at the beginning of this third millennium, hundreds of millions of people have to walk for hours to get it (WHO 2004) and more than 2 billion of our contemporaries do not have direct access to clean water (On this subject, see the episode on water tables linked to world water day on 19 March),
This natural resource is not renewable, this 1% of fresh water available must be shared between billions of human beings! It is therefore a matter of good sense that to survive in the literal sense of the term, we do not have the right to pollute or waste this paltry one percent that we have.
This one percent, constituting water sources, rivers and lakes, must be used in a reasonable manner, that is, by carrying out measured assessments preserving the resource for all human beings, not forgetting future generations.
Reasonable agricultural activity is also indispensable because, as we have seen, irrigation already takes up 2 thirds of the available fresh water. Agriculture can and should be in harmony with the needs of the population and what nature can provide, a reasonable approach will optimistically enable us to feed everyone without destroying the planet (See also episode no. 51, CyberDodo and pesticides, on the dangers of unreasonable agricultural activities).

As individuals, we can all contribute to conservation of the resource by making sure that water is not left to run without being used, using water savers on taps and sanitary installations, repairing all leaks or all weak joints and complying with restrictions on watering gardens or washing cars.
Each human being lives for the first 9 months of life in an exclusively liquid environment, we therefore all know intuitively that water is one of the most precious assets we possess.
Respect it, preserve it, it's a question of survival!
